Web GIS Developer

We’re Hiring: Web GIS Developer Metavystic (Pvt.) Ltd. is looking for a Web GIS Developer with 2+ years of professional experience to join our geospatial technology team. We are looking for someone with strong hands-on experience in Web GIS development, spatial data processing, GIS automation, interactive mapping, and geospatial application development. Experience: 2+ Years Employment Type: Full-Time Location: Rawalpindi / Islamabad Work Arrangement: Onsite / Hybrid Working Hours: 9:00 AM – 6:00 PM, Monday to Friday Key Responsibilities Develop and maintain Web GIS applications and interactive mapping platforms. Build interactive maps, layers, spatial queries, filters, search and visualization features. Integrate GIS data, APIs and external geospatial services. Work with WMS, WFS, WMTS and other OGC services. Configure and integrate GeoServer with web applications. Process, transform and validate spatial datasets. Work with GDAL/OGR for geospatial data conversion, processing and automation. Develop GIS automation and geoprocessing workflows using Python. Work with ArcPy for GIS automation, geoprocessing and spatial analysis. Work with QGIS / PyQGIS for spatial data processing and automation. Handle spatial formats including Shapefile, GeoJSON, KML/KMZ, GeoTIFF, CSV, Excel and GPKG. Develop GIS dashboards and geospatial data visualization interfaces. Work with PostgreSQL/PostGIS and spatial databases. Integrate frontend applications with backend APIs. Optimize applications and maps for large spatial datasets. Troubleshoot GIS, spatial data, API and application-related issues. Collaborate with GIS specialists, software developers, QA engineers and project managers. Participate in code reviews, technical discussions and project planning. Document GIS workflows, APIs, data processing procedures and developed features. Required Technical Skills Web GIS & Frontend 2+ years of professional experience in Web GIS / GIS application development. Strong knowledge of JavaScript, HTML and CSS. Experience with React.js or another modern frontend framework. Hands-on experience with one or more: Leaflet OpenLayers Mapbox GL JS CesiumJS Experience integrating REST APIs into web applications. Good understanding of frontend-backend architecture. Experience with Git and collaborative development. GIS & Spatial Data Strong understanding of GIS concepts, spatial data and coordinate reference systems. Practical experience with GeoServer. Experience working with WMS, WFS, WMTS and OGC standards. Strong understanding of spatial data formats: Shapefile GeoJSON KML/KMZ GeoTIFF GeoPackage CSV/Excel Experience with GDAL/OGR for data conversion, transformation and processing. Experience with ArcPy and GIS geoprocessing workflows. Experience with QGIS / PyQGIS is preferred. Experience with spatial data validation, transformation and optimization. Understanding of spatial analysis and geoprocessing concepts. Python & Automation Good working knowledge of Python. Experience developing GIS scripts and automation workflows. Experience with GDAL/OGR, ArcPy and/or PyQGIS. Ability to automate repetitive GIS and spatial data processing tasks. Familiarity with libraries such as GeoPandas, Shapely, Rasterio or Fiona will be an advantage. Spatial Databases Practical experience with PostgreSQL/PostGIS. Understanding of spatial queries and geometry operations. Experience importing, exporting and managing spatial datasets. Understanding of database optimization for large spatial datasets is a plus. Good to Have Experience with: GDAL / OGR ArcPy PyQGIS GeoPandas Shapely Rasterio Fiona PostGIS GeoServer Leaflet / OpenLayers / Mapbox CesiumJS / 3D GIS AWS or other cloud platforms Remote sensing and satellite imagery Drone mapping and surveying Raster and vector data processing Spatial ETL workflows GIS dashboards GeoAI / AI-based geospatial applications OGC standards and geospatial web services Experience with agriculture, climate, water, environmental, urban planning, infrastructure, drone mapping, or other geospatial projects will be an advantage. Pays attention to application performance, data quality and UI/UX. Can manage multiple tasks and meet project deadlines. Is comfortable learning and working with new geospatial technologies.
