Job Summary
The CAD Operator / Geomatics Technician supports land surveying and engineering projects by preparing accurate survey drawings and plans using computer-assisted design software. Working closely with surveyors, project managers, and technical staff, the technician processes field data and produces legal and topographic plans for construction, engineering, and land claim projects across Western Canada. The role requires strong technical drafting skills, attention to detail, and the ability to meet project deadlines while ensuring compliance with jurisdictional standards.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare construction engineering survey plans and drawings using CAD software.
Produce legal survey, topographic, bathymetric, engineering, and construction layout plans.
Operate CAD software to create detailed and technically accurate drawings under the supervision of the Project Manager.
Process GPS and total station field data, field notes, and sketches to generate accurate survey plans.
Coordinate legal, engineering, and architectural plans for field layout.
Ensure drawings meet project requirements, quality standards.
Ability to accurately calculate anchor bolts and plates from PDF documents.
Collaborate with project teams to meet project schedules, budgets, and quality control standards.
Build and maintain professional relationships with clients and team members.
Qualifications
Preferred education, in Geomatics, and/or CAD from an accredited institution and experience in civil surveying
3–5+ years of related drafting or geomatics experience preferred.
Experience working with legal and engineering plans.
Understanding of basic surveying principles and survey plan requirements.
Proficiency in
AutoCAD Civil 3D
is required.
Experience with CAD mapping or GIS software is considered an asset.

The compensation package for this position will be commensurate with the level of responsibility of the position as well as the candidate's qualifications.
