Civil & Structural Design Engineer

Key Responsibilities Works closely with Survey Teams, Civil/Structural Engineers, Environmental Specialists, and Project teams to ensure technically sound, constructible, and economical line designs. Route Alignment Development Review & validate survey data, GIS information, LiDAR outputs and client route corridors. Develop optimized transmission line alignments considering technical, environmental, social, constructability, and commercial constraints. Identify route deviations, angle points, and potential risk locations. Plan & Profile Design Prepare Plan & Profile drawings for overhead transmission lines. Develop horizontal alignment and longitudinal ground profiles based on survey data. Ensure accurate representation of terrain, land features, crossings, and utilities. Update drawings based on route revisions and stakeholder comments. Maintain consistency between Plan & Profile drawings and structure lists. Structure Spotting and Optimization Perform structure spotting using PLS-CADD or equivalent tools. Optimize tower locations considering: Sag and tension criteria/ Ground clearance requirements/Span limitations Tower utilization/Construction feasibility Generate and maintain structure schedules and spotting reports Clearance and Crossing Analysis Verify vertical and horizontal clearances. Evaluate crossings with: Existing OHTLs/Roads and highways/Railways/ Pipelines/Communication lines/Buildings and facilities Ensure compliance with client specifications, national regulations, IEEE/IEC requirements, and utility standards. Technical Skills Required Strong understanding of OHTL design principles from 66kV Upto 800kV Knowledge of Tower configurations/Conductors/OPGW/Earth wires/ Insulators/ Hardware fittings/Electrical clearances Software Skills PLS-CADD/ PLS - TOWER AutoCAD/ MicroStation Global Mapper
