About the Role
The Data Engineer GIS is a member of the Survey Department responsible for the creation and maintenance of geo-information, data management, and analysis of geospatial data in association with other project-related data. The role includes creating project-specific and/or industry-accepted data models and collaborating on the creation and maintenance of GeoAI models.
Responsibilities include verifying and adjusting data models to comply with project deliverables, assisting with GeoAI model creation and maintenance, creating geo-information products from acquired imagery, preparing geo-information during job preparation and execution, compiling data packages for clients, supporting other departments on geo-information interpretation, processing and reporting survey data, maintaining accurate data handling logs, supporting geo-information driven decision-making, configuring geo-information delivery portals and dashboards, reviewing geo-information deliverables, supporting final as-built deliverables, administering metadata, and staying current with industry-standard data models, sharing technology, survey acquisition technology, and industry trends.
Requirements include a BSc or MSc degree in Geomatics, Geoinformatics, Hydrography, Geodesy, Earth Sciences, or an equivalent qualification; at least 3 years of relevant experience setting up and maintaining GIS for offshore construction survey support; experience with delivery of layouts, programming tools, GeoAI for FMV/oriented imagery, and geospatial analyses supporting project preparation and execution; good written and spoken English; affinity with offshore construction work; and solid understanding of hydrographic survey systems and methodologies.
