About the Role

Engineering Technician – GIS Analyst The City of College Park is seeking a highly motivated, full-time Engineering Technician – GIS Analyst to support the Public Works Department. This position plays a key role in maintaining and enhancing the City's Geographic Information System (GIS) database and producing high-quality maps and spatial analyses. This role involves frequent interaction with residents, contractors, City staff, and elected officials. The ideal candidate will possess strong communication and customer service skills, advanced computer proficiency, and demonstrated experience working with spatial data. Key Responsibilities The selected candidate will work closely with the City Engineer and will be responsible for: Supporting capital improvement projects Conducting traffic analyses Responding to and tracking resident concerns related to street infrastructure and public services Maintaining and updating the City's GIS database Performing geospatial analysis and data management Preparing technical, print, and digital maps Updating and maintaining the City Engineering Department webpage Assisting with a variety of engineering and departmental projects as needed Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Geographic Information Systems (GIS), or a closely related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience Proficiency with Esri ArcGIS products (e.g., ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Online) Valid driver's license in the state of residence with a satisfactory driving record Strong written and verbal communication skills High level of computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office applications Compensation And Benefits The starting salary range is $31.01 – $32.58 per hour, depending on qualifications, along with a competitive benefits package Application Process To Be Considered, Applicants Must Submit A completed City application (available at www.collegeparkmd.gov) A resume A cover letter Application Deadline This position is open until July 19, 2026.
