About the Role
A Geodetic Engineer Surveyor measures, maps, and defines precise points, elevations, lines, and boundaries on the Earth's surface. They use advanced satellite systems, GPS, GIS, and high-tech tools to support construction, land development, and property legal boundaries.
Core Responsibilities
Land and Boundary Surveys:
Find and set legal property lines, lot corners, and tract boundaries to prevent or solve ownership disputes.
Site Layout and Staking:
Mark exact locations for building foundations, roads, bridges, and utilities before construction begins.
Data Collection:
Use total stations, GNSS/GPS receivers, LiDAR, and drones to gather precise spatial data.
Mapping and Modeling:
Process field data using CAD and GIS software to create topographic maps, site plans, and 3D models.
Quality Control & As-Built Surveys:
Check alignment and elevations during construction and perform final checks when projects finish.
Job Requirements
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Geodetic Engineering or a closely related discipline.
Licensure:
Valid professional license (such as a PRC Geodetic Engineering license) is often required depending on local regulations and signing authority.
Technical Skills:
Strong proficiency in AutoCAD, GIS, and operating precision survey hardware.
Physical Stamina:
Ability to perform field work in various weather conditions and walk rough terrain
