Are you an experienced GIS professional with a strong background in advanced cartography, geospatial data production, and map-series development?
We are looking for a
GIS & Cartography Specialist
to join a long-term, on-site project in Valencia. This opportunity is ideal for someone who combines strong GIS expertise with hands-on experience producing high-quality operational, topographic, and image-based cartographic products.
What Youβll Work On
Produce operational maps, briefing maps and recurring map series.
Develop and maintain Topographic Maps, Image Maps and Topographic Line Maps at multiple scales.
Apply cartographic generalization, symbolization, labelling, grid systems, edition control and publication standards.
Create high-quality printed, digital, atlas-style and book-style cartographic products.
Process and validate vector, raster, satellite imagery and elevation data.
Maintain production-ready geospatial datasets and spatial databases.
Perform spatial analysis, geoprocessing, feature extraction and data validation.
Support 2D and 3D geospatial visualizations and digital-twin-related products.
Automate GIS and cartographic workflows using Python or comparable tools.
Apply QC/QA standards to ensure data and product accuracy.
What Weβre Looking For
Bachelorβs degree in Geography, Geomatics, Computer Science or a related field.
At least three years of professional experience in GIS, cartography, remote sensing, image analysis or geospatial application development.
Demonstrated experience producing or reviewing Topographic Maps, Image Maps or Topographic Line Maps.
Strong knowledge of cartographic principles, map design and publication-quality finishing.
Experience managing geospatial data, including metadata, topology, attribution, versioning and quality controls.
Proficiency with ESRI technologies and open-source GIS software.
Knowledge of coordinate reference systems, projections, grids and datum transformations.
Experience with satellite imagery and remote-sensing software.
Programming or automation skills using Python, ArcPy, PyQGIS, FME, ModelBuilder, Java or JavaScript.
Fluent written and spoken English.
Availability to work fully on-site in Valencia.
Nice to Have
Experience with GNSS/GPS receivers, total stations or similar survey equipment.
Familiarity with GeoAI, machine-learning-enabled GIS, computer vision or automated imagery analysis.
Experience with GeoPDF, tile packages, mobile map packages or offline mapping products.
Knowledge of OpenStreetMap, JOSM or iD Editor.
Experience preparing map books, atlases or other publication-quality cartographic products.
