Position Overview
The
GIS Analyst 3
will analyze current GIS data states, workflows, and processes and develop solutions for integrations, transformations, and deliverables. The role will support GIS data analysis, data mining, technical support, and database maintenance to meet internal and external customer requirements.
The ideal candidate will have strong GIS, spatial analysis, data processing, and problem-solving capabilities, along with experience supporting
utility or pipeline GIS environments
. The position will also contribute to process improvement, quality control, data creation, conversion, migration, and maintenance activities.
Roles & Responsibilities
GIS Data Analysis & Processing
Analyze current data states, workflows, and processes.
Perform advanced GIS analysis and modeling.
Perform data mining activities to meet customer requirements and specifications.
Process, prepare, and convert data from various formats for entry into GIS.
Perform data creation, conversion, migration, and maintenance activities.
Apply linear referencing techniques and concepts to GIS data and projects.
Database & GIS Development
Support technical project tasks, including database design and advanced GIS analysis.
Develop solutions for GIS data integrations, transformations, and deliverables.
Create and maintain automated processes using
Model Builder, Python scripting, or other tools
.
Perform database maintenance to meet internal and external customer requirements.
Support Utility Network and GIS data development activities.
Queries, Maps & Reporting
Develop specialized queries, maps, and reports based on customer requirements and specifications.
Analyze GIS and tabular data to support project and business requirements.
Provide accurate GIS deliverables and recommendations based on data analysis.
Application Testing & Quality Control
Perform application testing and document defects.
Develop application testing scripts and execute testing activities.
Interface with users to understand and document requested or required changes.
Perform
QA/QC on version data
before it is pushed to the production environment.
Review requirements and recommend appropriate data development and processing solutions.
Process Improvement & Technical Support
Analyze current business processes and recommend best-practice solutions.
Identify new GIS technologies, processes, and applications to improve inter- and intra-departmental functions.
Provide technical support related to GIS data, applications, and processes.
Recommend solutions for complex GIS and data-processing problems.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Geography (GIS), Engineering, Computer Science, or related field.
3+ years of experience in industry-standard GIS.
OR a GIS certificate and 3 years of related work experience in lieu of a degree in a related discipline.
1+ year of experience in utility or pipeline GIS.
Advanced proficiency with ArcGIS Pro and ArcGIS 10.2x.
Advanced proficiency with Linear Referencing.
Intermediate proficiency with FME, ArcGIS Enterprise, Utility Network, Model Builder, Python, and SQL RDBMS.
Strong geoprocessing, spatial analysis, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to manage multiple assignments and changing priorities.
Ability to work effectively with limited direct supervision.
