About the Role
Geographic Information Systems Engineer
London (Hybrid - 2 days in office)
Contract - 6 Months
Inside IR35 | Rates: £450 - £500 per day
Lorien is currently recruiting for a Geographic Information Systems (GIS) Engineer to join a major transportation and infrastructure client based in London. This is an exciting 6-month contract opportunity to work on critical infrastructure spatial datasets and contribute to enterprise GIS modernization.
Role Overview:
As a GIS Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, deploying, and maintaining enterprise spatial data solutions. You will work closely with data engineering, asset management, and software teams to integrate GIS datasets into enterprise applications, build web services, and automate spatial data workflows.
Key Responsibilities:
Enterprise GIS Administration: Maintain and configure ArcGIS Enterprise (Server, Portal, Data Store) environment.
Spatial Data Engineering: Develop automated ETL pipelines using Python and FME to process large spatial datasets.
Web GIS Development: Build and maintain web mapping applications using ArcGIS Experience Builder, Web AppBuilder, and JavaScript API.
Database Management: Administer spatial databases (PostGIS / Enterprise Geodatabase on SQL Server).
Integration: Connect GIS data with asset management systems (Maximo, SAP) and cloud services (Azure).
Technical Support: Provide advanced technical support and guidance to internal GIS users and analysts.
Skills & Experience Required:
Strong experience as a GIS Engineer, Developer, or Enterprise GIS Specialist.
In-depth knowledge of the Esri Enterprise stack (ArcGIS Enterprise, Portal, Pro).
Proven scripting experience with Python (ArcPy, ArcPy.mp, GeoPandas) and SQL.
Hands-on experience with spatial ETL tools, particularly FME.
Experience with Web GIS tools (Experience Builder, JavaScript API, REST APIs).
Familiarity with cloud platforms (Azure) and enterprise asset management integration is a plus.
Active Security Clearance (SC) or eligibility for clearance is desirable.
