About the Role
The Geomatics Specialist will be based in Ausenco’s Mendoza, Argentina office and will support the Earth and Environment business line. You will have proven experience in spatial analysis, GIS data management, and environmental assessment, with intermediate-to-advanced proficiency in ArcGIS and AutoCAD for spatial data ingestion, processing, analysis, and visualization.
You should also have expertise in web mapping, data management, drone (UAV) operations—including pre- and post-processing—and knowledge of relevant standards and best practices. Experience across all phases of a data-centric project lifecycle—from data capture to end-user delivery—is essential.
This position is highly production-oriented, with a focus on data management, cartography, and team coordination. Strong interpersonal skills are required, as you’ll collaborate across all levels of the organization.
Key Responsibilities:
Deliver high-quality GIS (ArcMap/ArcGIS Pro) and CAD (AutoCAD) outputs to internal and external clients, on time and within budget.
Collaborate with internal and external clients to fulfill daily data requests, especially handling large datasets in ESRI environments.
Assist in designing and developing custom tools across platforms to streamline routine data management workflows.
Support the integration and development of geomatics standards and workflows.
Prepare reports to support environmental permitting and sector regulatory compliance.
Design and produce base and thematic maps using GIS and CAD software.
Develop and maintain spatial databases—including digitization, conversion, analysis, maintenance, and cross-platform distribution.
Conduct spatial analysis and modeling of environmental and social themes (e.g., hydrography, climate, landscape, physical risk, accessibility, population dynamics).
Respond to internal and external client service requests by defining scope, clarifying expectations, and negotiating timelines for mapping, data generation, and spatial analysis.
Develop and maintain documentation on standards, procedures, workflows, and metadata in line with project and national regulatory requirements.
Troubleshoot technical issues related to geomatics software and hardware.
About You
Experience working in consulting or related sectors.
Degree in Natural Resources Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Surveying, Geomatics, Geography, or a related field.
Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent technical qualification) in GIS or a geomatics-related discipline.
Competent level of English.
Minimum 3 years of experience using GIS and CAD tools.
Advanced proficiency in ArcGIS.
Intermediate proficiency in Autodesk AutoCAD (2D and 3D).
Knowledge of remote sensing and software for processing satellite and multispectral imagery.
Strong understanding of CAD and GIS environments and concepts, especially ESRI ArcGIS suite and AutoCAD applications.
Bonus: Experience with SDE, relational datasets, Python, JavaScript, and data management practices.
Solid cartographic skills using ESRI ArcMap/ArcGIS Pro with at least 3 years of hands-on experience.
Knowledge and experience with drones (UAVs) and photogrammetric processing (optional).
