Geospatial and Mapping Engineer

DSS Aerospace is seeking a skilled Geospatial and Mapping Engineer to join our engineering team in Turkey. The ideal candidate will develop and optimize geospatial solutions, digital mapping systems, and terrain analysis for UAVs and autonomous platforms. You will work with GIS technologies, satellite imagery, and mapping data to support navigation, mission planning, and situational awareness. Key Responsibilities Develop and maintain geospatial databases and digital mapping solutions. Process, analyze, and visualize geospatial data from satellite imagery, UAVs, LiDAR, and GIS sources. Create high-resolution terrain models, orthomosaics, and 3D maps. Support mission planning and autonomous navigation using GIS and mapping technologies. Develop geospatial analysis tools for route planning, obstacle detection, and terrain assessment. Integrate mapping solutions with UAV software and autonomous systems. Work with GPS/GNSS data, coordinate systems, and spatial reference frameworks. Collaborate with software, AI, robotics, and flight control teams to develop geospatial applications. Validate mapping accuracy through simulations and field testing. Required Qualifications Bachelor's or Master's degree in Geomatics Engineering, Geospatial Engineering, GIS, Remote Sensing, Surveying, Computer Science, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field. Strong knowledge of GIS principles, spatial analysis, and digital mapping. Experience with QGIS, ArcGIS, Global Mapper, or similar GIS software. Proficiency in Python for geospatial data processing and automation. Experience with GDAL, GeoPandas, PostGIS, or related geospatial libraries. Understanding of GPS/GNSS, coordinate systems, projections, and georeferencing. Experience processing satellite imagery, UAV imagery, or LiDAR datasets. Preferred Qualifications Experience with ROS/ROS2 and autonomous navigation systems. Knowledge of Photogrammetry, Remote Sensing, and 3D Terrain Reconstruction. Familiarity with Pix4D, Agisoft Metashape, OpenDroneMap, or similar mapping software. Experience with UAV mapping and mission planning.
