Thai Rak Pa Foundation is a public benefit organization dedicated to conserving and restoring watershed forests and biodiversity, in collaboration with network partners, to achieve sustainable development. Established and supported by EGCO Group Public Company Limited, the foundation aims to ensure the long-term protection of Thailand’s critical watershed forests. Current operations span three provinces: Chiang Mai, Nakhon Si Thammarat, and Chaiyaphut.
Position: Geospatial Data Analyst (GIS) – Chiang Mai Office (1 position)
Key Responsibilities
Create maps, conduct field data collection, and perform aerial imagery acquisition and analysis.
Design survey plans, summarize survey results, and visualize geospatial data in various formats.
Collect, manage, analyze, and visualize spatial data related to forest ecosystems.
Duties and Responsibilities
Geospatial Data Management & Preparation
Data Collection: Gather raw data from diverse sources, including satellite imagery, GISDA data, field GPS surveys, and vector/raster files from government and private agencies.
Data Transformation & Cleaning: Convert data into standardized formats, verify coordinate accuracy, and correct geospatial errors.
Database Design & Maintenance: Design and manage spatial databases (e.g., PostGIS, ArcGIS Enterprise), ensuring data remains up-to-date.
Geospatial Analysis
Spatial Relationship Analysis: Apply advanced analytical functions (e.g., Buffer, Overlay, Network Analysis) to uncover hidden patterns—such as forest boundaries and agricultural land zones.
Modeling & Simulation: Develop predictive models (e.g., community forest management, ecotourism route planning).
Suitability Analysis: Identify optimal locations for projects (e.g., wildlife conservation zones, carbon credit initiatives).
Mapping & Visualization
Technical Map Design: Produce accurate 2D and 3D maps with clear symbology, color schemes, and labeling for effective communication.
Organizational Database Development
General Databases: Demographics, livelihoods, income, education, etc.
GIS Databases: Forest boundaries, agricultural land, residential areas, village limits.
Natural Resource Databases: Species, water resources, land cover, etc.
Qualifications
Required
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Geography, Environmental Science, Forestry, Agriculture, or a related field.
Age not exceeding 35 years.
Proficiency in ArcGIS, QGIS, Google Earth, and other mapping software.
Ability to operate drones for aerial photography and process the resulting data.
Competence in spatial data analysis using GIS tools.
Experience in GIS/GPS data management (preferred).
Experience working with local communities and forest restoration projects.
