Geospatial Engineer with Focus on 3D

We are now looking for a geospatial engineer who wants to contribute to the development of our geospatial and 3D solutions—working at the intersection of GIS, databases, automation, and digital urban development. The position belongs to the Land Surveying, Mapping, and Measurement unit. We are responsible for collecting, updating, and providing the city’s geographic information and work, among other things, with base maps, aerial imagery, addresses, surveying services, and 3D buildings—forming a crucial foundation for urban development in Helsingborg. Within smart digital urban development, we integrate urban planning, geospatial data, and modern technology. Our ambition is to move from static maps and models to dynamic, data-driven foundations and a modern digital twin. Here, 3D geospatial data interacts with real-time data, IoT, and operational systems to provide better decision-making support across planning, analysis, maintenance, and simulation. To enable this, we are currently building a robust and automated data infrastructure. Tasks and Responsibilities In this role, you will operationally maintain, quality-assure, and develop the city’s 3D city model. You will work with processing and structuring geospatial data and be responsible for ensuring the information in the model remains current and usable. Currently, we use software such as CityEngine and ArcGIS Pro for handling 3D geospatial data. A key part of the assignment is to develop how we work with 3D geospatial data. Today, the update process includes several manual steps, and we aim to gradually develop more efficient and automated data workflows. You will therefore be a vital part of developing methods, processes, and technical solutions for how data is created, stored, updated, and made accessible. In this role, you will have the opportunity to contribute to this development and, together with others, explore how 3D geospatial data, integrations, and other information sources can create new opportunities for the city’s operations.
