About the Role

Geospatial Infrastructure Specialist (GIS, Mapping & Asset Management) Boston, Lincolnshire £35,000 - £42,432 + LGPS + Vehicle Allowance + Nine-Day Fortnight If you're looking for a role that offers more variety than a traditional surveying, GIS or engineering position, this could be exactly what you've been waiting for. Working across more than 750 kilometres of critical infrastructure assets throughout Lincolnshire, you'll enjoy a unique mix of field-based surveying and office-based GIS, mapping and asset management work. The information you collect and manage will help support infrastructure that plays an important role in protecting communities, supporting local businesses and agriculture, and safeguarding the environment across Lincolnshire. One day you could be out capturing survey data and asset information across the network, the next you'll be using that information to support investment decisions, maintenance programmes and future infrastructure projects. It's a rare opportunity to build expertise across surveying, engineering, GIS and asset management within a single role. The opportunity has arisen following the relocation of the current post holder, who joined as a graduate and developed into a key member of the team over a number of years. Their departure has created an opportunity to join an organisation that genuinely invests in training, development and long-term career progression. The Role You'll be responsible for surveying infrastructure assets, capturing GPS and GNSS data, undertaking levels and condition surveys, and supporting major surveying projects across the region. Alongside this, you'll use ArcGIS Pro, AutoCAD and asset management systems to maintain mapping records, produce technical drawings and profiles, and provide the information needed to support operational and strategic decision-making. The role offers a genuine balance between office and site work, with approximately 60% of your time spent in the office and 40% on site. You'll also have the opportunity to undertake drone surveying, with full training provided. About You You may currently be working as a Land Surveyor, Engineering Surveyor, GIS Technician, GIS Analyst, Utilities Surveyor, Asset Mapping Specialist, Civil Engineering Technician or Site Engineer and be looking for a broader role with greater variety. Equally, you may be a graduate with strong foundations in GIS, CAD, surveying or a related discipline who is looking for the right environment to develop your career. Experience with ArcGIS Pro, AutoCAD, GPS/GNSS surveying equipment, mapping systems or asset information would be advantageous, but attitude, aptitude and a willingness to learn are equally important. Why Join? Few roles offer the opportunity to combine surveying, GIS, engineering and asset management whilst working on infrastructure that has such a direct impact on Lincolnshire. The organisation manages an extensive network of critical assets that support communities, businesses, agriculture and the wider environment throughout Lincolnshire. The work is largely unseen, but it plays a vital role in the long-term resilience and sustainability of the region. Alongside a salary of up to £42,432, you'll benefit from membership of the Local Government Pension Scheme, a vehicle allowance, mileage reimbursement, flexible working arrangements and a 74-hour nine-day fortnight, giving you an additional day off every two weeks. Most importantly, you'll be joining an organisation that believes in developing its people and providing opportunities to build a highly specialised and sought-after skill set.
