About the Role
Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced Geospatial Software Developer to join our software engineering team. In this role, you will be responsible for developing, maintaining, and enhancing high-performance desktop applications built using C#, .NET, and WPF.
You will work on specialized 3D spatial software, designing interactive mapping components, optimizing spatial algorithms, rendering complex datasets, and ensuring smooth performance for heavy graphical and computational workloads.
Key Responsibilities
Design, develop, and maintain desktop software applications using C#, .NET, and WPF.
Develop high-performance 3D visualization, interactive canvas controls, and map rendering features.
Implement and optimize spatial algorithms, coordinate transformations, and geometric computations.
Maintain robust MVVM architecture, ensuring high code quality, testability, and maintainability.
Work with 3D graphics frameworks, spatial data structures, and real-time graphics rendering.
Profile application performance, optimize memory management, and resolve bottleneck issues related to large datasets and complex 3D scenes.
Collaborate with product managers, domain experts (mining engineers/geologists), and QA to deliver intuitive software features.
Participate in code reviews, technical design discussions, and continuous improvement of development practices.
Required Skills & Qualifications
5+ years of professional software development experience using C# and .NET.
Strong expertise in WPF, XAML, MVVM design pattern, and desktop application UI development.
Solid foundation in 3D graphics, math (linear algebra, vector math, transformations), and spatial coordinate systems.
Experience developing spatial, GIS, CAD, or 3D mapping applications.
Proficiency with spatial data structures (quadtrees, octrees, spatial indexing) and computational geometry algorithms.
Experience with graphics APIs or rendering libraries (e.g., DirectX, OpenGL, Vulkan, Helix Toolkit, OpenTK, or custom rendering engines).
Strong understanding of multithreading, async programming, memory management, and performance profiling.
Familiarity with Git, CI/CD pipelines, and modern Agile software development practices.
Desirable / Advantageous Experience
Experience in mining software, geotechnical analysis, surveying, or CAD platform development.
Familiarity with C++ for native performance-critical modules or interoperability (P/Invoke, C++/CLI).
Knowledge of GIS standards, spatial file formats (GeoTIFF, OBJ, DXF, LAS/LAZ point clouds), or spatial databases (PostGIS, SpatiaLite).
Experience with modern 3D engines (Unity, Unreal Engine) adapted for engineering/industrial desktop tools.
