Title: GIS Advisor

Vestland County Municipality is seeking a GIS Advisor for a 2-year temporary position. You will become part of one of the strongest GIS and analytics environments in the public sector, where we combine modern technology with analysis, innovation, and societal development.
This is not a purely operational role. Here, you will help develop new solutions, explore emerging technologies, and transform data into actionable knowledge that supports better decision-making.
Job Responsibilities
Your daily work will be varied. Among other tasks, you will:
Conduct geographic analyses supporting regional planning and societal development
Collaborate with municipalities, national agencies, and other partners
Develop and maintain GIS infrastructure, map services, and geospatial data
Design mapping solutions, dashboards, and digital visualizations
Contribute to strengthening the county municipality’s knowledge base
Provide expert GIS advice to various departments within the county municipality
Participate in development projects related to analysis, digitalization, and geospatial data
Qualifications
Master’s degree in GIS, geomatics, geography, computer science, or a related field
Experience with GIS software
Solid understanding of geographic data and analysis methods
Strong collaboration skills and ability to communicate technical issues clearly
Personal attributes are highly valued
Bonus qualifications:
Experience with web-GIS and map services
Experience with FME
Proficiency in Python or SQL
Experience with ArcGIS Enterprise and/or ArcGIS Pro
Skills in data visualization and dashboard development
Experience in public administration or planning work
Lack of experience in specific areas may be compensated for by strong motivation and a willingness to learn.
