The
GIS Analyst
will support solar and energy storage development by delivering geospatial analysis that informs site selection, real estate acquisition, environmental planning, and project design. Working closely with the GIS Manager and project developers, this role will use advanced ArcGIS capabilities to evaluate prospective locations, interpret land and survey information, manage geospatial data, and create cartographic deliverables that support renewable energy development decisions.
Responsibilities
Develop professional maps, cartographic deliverables, and web maps supporting solar and energy storage development.
Perform advanced geospatial analysis using ArcGIS Pro, ModelBuilder, and geoprocessing tools.
Interpret ALTA surveys, land agreements, project reports, and publicly available datasets to identify project constraints.
Plot metes and bounds, verify legal descriptions, and evaluate land ownership information.
Utilize Enverus for site selection campaigns and project layouts in collaboration with project developers.
Analyze raster, LiDAR, and other geospatial datasets to support project evaluation and design.
Provide cartographic representations supporting real estate land agreements, including maps and related visual documentation.
Maintain geospatial databases, update datasets, and ensure compliance with data governance requirements.
Manage geospatial data inputs, workflows, and lifecycle processes.
Use Python scripting and ArcGIS ModelBuilder to automate recurring GIS tasks and improve workflow efficiency.
Manage multiple projects and shifting development priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree required.
2–5 years of professional GIS experience.
Hands-on ESRI ArcGIS Pro experience, including strong GIS editing skills, is required.
Experience with ArcGIS Online, ModelBuilder, and geoprocessing tools.
Experience reading and interpreting ALTA surveys, legal descriptions, and geospatial data.
Experience plotting survey calls and metes and bounds to verify property information.
Experience supporting real estate land agreements through GIS analysis and cartographic deliverables.
Renewable energy or solar industry experience is strongly preferred; broader energy industry experience will also be considered.
Experience with Python, Enverus, CAD, Microsoft Power Automate, JavaScript, Salesforce, raster data, or LiDAR is preferred.
GIS Certificate is preferred.
