Description The
GIS Analyst II
will support Ecolab’s Institutional Division by analyzing spatial data, identifying patterns and trends, and converting complex datasets into actionable GIS insights. This role involves mapping software, data cleaning, modeling, and internal and external geographic data to inform business decisions.
The GIS team improves business responsiveness, effectiveness, and efficiency through innovative GIS research, planning, architecture, and use of GPS, telematics, and business transformation technologies.
This role supports coordinated GIS-based planning by delivering spatial intelligence that improves field service and sales efficiency. You will report to the Institutional GIS Manager and partner with GIS Specialists, Analysts, Developers, and divisional leaders to apply and expand GIS solutions.

Hybrid position based in Saint Paul, MN.
What you will do:
Use GIS expertise and analysis to help field teams optimize service delivery.
Partner with field management and business leaders to improve route and territory optimization through spatial analysis.
Collaborate with stakeholders to deliver GIS insights that support business needs.
Provide GIS reporting, findings, and recommendations to improve service efficiency and business outcomes.
Coach business partners on how to understand and apply GIS outputs.
Apply coding, geospatial, statistical, and modeling tools to identify opportunities.
Support development of new GIS capabilities and contribute to departmental and company goals.
Communicate effectively with GIS team members, stakeholders, and management.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in geography, planning, environmental science, or related field.
5+ years of GIS experience with ESRI ArcGIS, including data development, manipulation, modeling, and analysis.
Experience with geographic and spatial methods, large datasets, and multiple data sources.
Ability to grow GIS and business skills to increase impact.
Comfortable communicating and collaborating through Microsoft Teams screen-sharing sessions.

Preferred Qualifications:
1+ years of experience with ESRI Network Analyst tools, including Vehicle Routing Problem.
1+ years of geocoding and address matching experience.
Experience applying GIS to business analysis, territory design, route design, maps, reporting, and decision support.
Experience with ArcGIS Online, Enterprise, Portal, Experience Builder, dashboards, SQL Azure, or enterprise geodatabases.
Strong organization skills with the ability to meet deadlines, manage priorities, and work with minimal supervision.
Ability to review reports and data for accuracy, completeness, and compliance.
Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
Experience in fast-paced, multitasking, advisory, or reporting environments is a plus.
Additional detail:
This role supports both Sales and Operations teams by partnering closely with field managers to identify business needs, solve operational challenges, and gather relevant data. Key deliverables include territory maps, Excel-based reports, and other data-driven tools used to support decision-making, planning, and field execution. The position serves a broad internal customer base, including field leadership and cross-functional partners, and requires the ability to translate data and geographic information into clear, actionable insights.
Success in this role requires strong technical proficiency with ESRI’s suite of GIS tools, including ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Online, Experience Builder, and SQL database querying, and Excel. Beyond technical expertise, the role requires the ability to work independently with field leaders, facilitate meetings, gather and interpret business needs, and translate data into clear, actionable deliverables. Strong time management, data organization, problem-solving skills, and effective verbal and written communication are also critical to success.
Translates complex spatial data, modeling outputs, and technical findings into clear, practical recommendations that sales and operations leaders can act on.
Builds trusted partnerships with field teams by helping them understand the “why” behind GIS insights and how to use them in day-to-day decision making.
Balances technical GIS expertise with strong communication skills, simplifying data without losing accuracy or business relevance
