Position: GIS Analyst in Aerial Image Analysis and Geospatial Data Processing (m/f/d)
Location: Düsseldorf, Germany
Responsibilities:
Analyze historical aerial imagery (approx. 300,000 WWII-era photos) to identify potential unexploded ordnance (UXO) risk areas prior to ground-disturbing construction activities.
Perform multi-temporal and stereoscopic interpretation of aerial images to delineate UXO suspicion areas.
Conduct aerial image orientation and georeferencing.
Carry out hazard assessments and recommend appropriate UXO clearance measures when necessary.
Document analysis results and findings in the ArcGIS geospatial information system.
Qualifications:
Completed university degree (Bachelor’s or Dipl.-Ing. (FH)/Diplom I) in Geodesy, Surveying, Geomatics, Geography, or another geoscience discipline—must be completed by September 30, 2026.
Alternatively, a completed Bachelor’s or Dipl.-Ing. (FH)/Diplom I degree in another mathematics, natural science, or engineering field, combined with professional experience in aerial image interpretation or UXO clearance.
Strict requirement: Unrestricted computer suitability and proven ability for stereoscopic vision.
High level of diligence, resilience, and decision-making competence, given the inherent safety risks associated with the work.
Preferred qualifications include:
- Experience with modern GIS (e.g., ArcGIS).
- Experience in the analysis and orientation of aerial or satellite imagery.
- Familiarity with photogrammetric software (e.g., ERDAS IMAGINE).
