About the Role

GIS Analyst Location: Tampa, FL (100% Onsite) Employment Type: Contract-to-Hire (6-month contract with conversion opportunity) Schedule: Full-time Work Authorization: U.S. Citizen or Green Card Holder residing in the Tampa Bay area Position Overview Seeking a GIS Analyst to support the maintenance and enhancement of Geographic Information Systems (GIS) used by the Hillsborough County Property Appraiser. The role focuses on maintaining parcel maps, spatial data, and GIS databases using deeds, legal descriptions, plats, aerial imagery, and Computer Assisted Mass Appraisal (CAMA) records. This is an excellent opportunity for recent graduates with a relevant degree or professionals with GIS experience looking to grow in a public-sector environment. Key Responsibilities Maintain, edit, and update GIS parcel maps, layers, and associated spatial databases. Review deeds, plats, legal descriptions, aerial imagery, and related records to support parcel maintenance. Perform GIS data editing while ensuring mapping accuracy and data integrity. Complete data entry, quality assurance, and validation of GIS information. Generate maps, reports, and supporting documentation for internal and external stakeholders. Support GIS analysis, research, and mapping projects under senior staff guidance. Troubleshoot routine GIS issues and maintain mapping documentation. Utilize GIS software and mapping applications to support departmental operations. Maintain organized project records and documentation. Perform additional duties as assigned. Required Qualifications High school diploma/GED with 3+ years of GIS, mapping, drafting, or data management experience; OR Associate degree in a related field with at least 1 year of relevant experience; OR Bachelor's degree in GIS, Geography, Geomatics, Surveying, Computer Science, or a related field. Ability to interpret maps, plats, aerial photography, deeds, and legal descriptions. Strong attention to detail and record-keeping skills. Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook). Ability to learn specialized GIS applications and mapping software. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines. Preferred Qualifications Experience with parcel mapping or property appraisal environments. Knowledge of GIS principles, spatial databases, and computerized mapping systems.
