GIS Analyst - Public Works

Under the general direction of the Asset Management Program Manager, the GIS Analyst creates and maintains a comprehensive GIS for Public Works infrastructure assets, including city streets, drainage, storm water, traffic management, city facilities, and other assets. The role provides technical spatial analysis, advanced analytics, mapping and reporting services; manages departmental GIS data; supports the Asset Management Program and Cityworks Work Management System; provides GIS technical support; performs data quality control and assurance with the IT GIS Team; creates and maintains maps, databases and scanned images; develops applications and scripts to streamline operations; writes database queries; researches and implements new GIS technology, software and practices; and fulfills GIS information requests. Required qualifications include a bachelor's degree in Geography, GIS, or Spatial Science plus two years of GIS experience, or equivalent education and experience. Required technical experience includes ESRI ArcGIS, ArcGIS Online, Trimble GPS, XML/Notepad++, SQL, and Visual Basic, Python, and/or JavaScript. Preferred qualifications include a master's degree, five years of GIS experience in a government entity, GIS-centric asset management software such as Azteca Cityworks, Microsoft Office, ESRI ArcGIS, and the ability to read construction drawings and specifications. A valid Class C Texas driver's license and safe driving record are required.
