Internship in Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and Municipal Asset Management
We are looking for a student with interest in Geographic Information Systems (GIS), cartography, and fieldwork, who wants to learn by participating in municipal inventory projects, asset management, and transport consulting.
During the internship, you will collaborate with the technical team in collecting, organizing, and processing territorial data—combining office-based tasks with field visits, all under the guidance of experienced professionals.
What You’ll Be Involved In:
Supporting the creation of municipal and local entity asset inventories by gathering information on public assets and infrastructure.
Assisting in the Local Infrastructure and Facilities Survey (EIEL), including data collection, review, and updates.
Conducting fieldwork to identify and geolocate transport infrastructure, facilities, and network elements.
Supporting the editing and updating of maps using ArcGIS and/or QGIS.
Organizing and reviewing geographic data: shapefiles, coordinates, and GPS records.
Applying GIS tools to cartography, asset management, and transport consulting projects.
Preparing and reviewing data tables in Excel.
What We’re Looking For:
Currently enrolled in a relevant program (e.g., Geography, Geomatics, Civil Engineering, Surveying, Environmental Science, or related fields), with the ability to complete internships via university agreement.
Basic knowledge of ArcGIS and/or QGIS.
Familiarity with shapefiles, GPS devices, coordinate systems, and map editing.
Proficiency in basic Excel functions.
What You’ll Learn:
You’ll gain practical experience applying GIS tools to real-world projects and learn how municipal inventories are developed—from field data collection to review and cartographic representation. You’ll also learn how to manage georeferenced data and understand its role in supporting public asset management and infrastructure/transport planning.
