About the Role
YOUR ROLE
As a GIS Developer, you will primarily develop GIS applications based on business needs, while also maintaining and enhancing the municipality’s GIS environment and performing expert-level geospatial data work.
Your responsibilities include:
Developing and maintaining GIS applications, web maps, and geospatial services
Working with geodatabases, data models, metadata, and system integrations
Using programming and scripting to automate and streamline geospatial data handling and processing
Analyzing user requirements and translating them into functional, sustainable GIS solutions
Troubleshooting, enhancing, and further developing existing systems
Contributing to the long-term maintenance and evolution of the municipal GIS environment
Supporting broader GIS and geospatial initiatives, including data management, spatial analysis, and quality assurance
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys blending software development and technology with hands-on, business-oriented GIS work—and who thrives in a dynamic environment where you regularly switch between data, technology, and operational needs.
YOUR COMPETENCE AND EXPERIENCE
We are looking for someone with a higher education degree (university or college) in GIS, geospatial technology, computer science, systems science, geography, or a related field. You should have substantial experience working with GIS and geospatial data, and a solid understanding of geospatial principles and data management.
Required qualifications:
Proven experience with GIS software (e.g., ArcGIS Enterprise or equivalent)
Experience with databases and SQL
Experience developing GIS applications, web maps, geospatial services, and integrations
Experience automating GIS and geospatial workflows using FME or similar tools
Meritorious qualifications:
Programming or scripting experience (e.g., Python)
Experience working in public sector or municipal planning and development processes
To succeed in this role, you should be goal-oriented, structured, analytical, and solution-focused. You must be able to work independently, take ownership of your tasks, and collaborate effectively—communicating technical topics clearly and concisely. Proficiency in Swedish, both spoken and written, is essential.
For this position, you must provide a current register extract from the Swedish Police Authority ("Arbete till en ledande befattning inom kommun") prior to employment. You are responsible for ordering the correct extract via polisen.se.
