GIS Developer

Job Title: GIS Developer Duration: 12 months Location: Austin, TX 78744 Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM; onsite 4–5 days per week Description: Austin-area candidates only. Candidates must be authorized to work in the United States. Th client is ITD–Applications team seeks an experienced GIS Developer to develop, enhance, support, and maintain custom and commercial GIS applications with minimal supervision. Key Responsibilities Develop new GIS features, modules, tools, and front-end functionality. Maintain applications, troubleshoot issues, and improve performance. Address security vulnerabilities and perform required application upgrades. Publish, tune, and troubleshoot ArcGIS Server map services. Analyze GIS data and support application and data processes across TxDOT divisions and districts. Support project delivery, operational tasks, end users, vendors, and cross-functional teams. Required Experience — 8+ Years Custom GIS application development, testing, installation, and deployment. HTML5, CSS, JavaScript, TypeScript, React, and Streamlit. C# and .NET. Esri ArcGIS JavaScript API 3.x/4.x, ArcSDE, Portal for ArcGIS, and ArcGIS Server. ArcGIS Server configuration, troubleshooting, and map-service publishing and tuning. ArcGIS Desktop tools: ArcMap, ArcGIS Pro, and ArcCatalog. ArcGIS API for Python, ArcPy, and ArcGIS REST API. Visual Studio, SSMS, SQL Developer, Azure DevOps, or similar tools. Preferred Skills Azure DevOps/Jira, Git/GitLab, and Agile delivery. Oracle, SQL, and PL/SQL. FME Desktop/Server, workbenches, and flows. ArcGIS Enterprise installation and configuration, including Portal, Server, Data Stores, and ArcGIS Online. IIS and AWS server administration. AI prompt engineering and coding assistants such as GitHub Copilot or Claude Code.
