GIS Internship – Urban Services Department

Position Overview ACCIONA’s Urban Services business line is hiring a Scholarship Intern to support the GIS department at its Madrid headquarters in the implementation and management of a technological platform for urban service control, currently developed jointly with MOVISAT and EXPERTIS. Mission Support the department in the implementation and management of the technological platform for urban service control. Key Responsibilities Support the deployment and management of the technological platform. Participate in drafting and overseeing contracts with entities involved in the platform, including feasibility studies, compliance monitoring, and improvement proposals. Assist in procurement, spare parts, and repair of technological equipment. Support fleet vehicle management—collaborating with the workshop supervisor to optimize and parameterize vehicle maintenance, fuel consumption, inspection dates, and emissions. Contribute to team coordination and organization related to the technological platform, in collaboration with team leads. Support data management and updates within the platform (e.g., containers, zones, routes, vehicles), working with technical staff from various contracts. Collaborate in the analysis, design, and execution of improvement proposals to enhance contract performance. Develop tools for dynamic graphical documentation export. Automate detection of green areas and street trees using remote sensing techniques. Create databases and catalogs from open data sources. Design 3D map visualizations. Improve workflows using Model Builder. Candidate Requirements Expected start date: January 2027. Internship duration: 6 months, part-time or full-time (full-time preferred: 35 hours/week). Possibility of signing a university internship agreement. Currently enrolled in the final year of a Bachelor’s or Master’s program in Environmental Sciences, Geography, or related fields. Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office. Knowledge of QGIS, GIS principles, and Python (ArcPy module). Paid internship.
