Source One is a consulting services company and we’re currently looking for the following individual to work as a consultant with our direct client, a regional utility and energy company in Clifton, NJ. No Third-Party, No Corp to Corp, No Sponsorship Now or Future Title: GIS Mapper Location: Clifton, NJ or Secaucus, NJ Duration: 24 month contract Pay Rate: $31.00 per hour (W-2) Schedule: On-site training for 6 to 10 weeks followed by a hybrid schedule with rotational remote work. Job Description Overview: This position supports the recording, updating, and production of data related to the construction, operation, and maintenance of utility systems, with a focus on electrical distribution GIS mapping. Responsibilities: Update the GIS model for the electrical distribution network. Process field edits, project updates, and record changes. Compare field maps, prints, and sketches to GIS data and enter corrections. Run reports and track mapping changes for the support team. Maintain the GIS connected model using work orders, as-built drawings, completion records, and field reports. Perform data analysis and prepare reports, charts, maps, and tabulations. Produce standard and ad-hoc map prints for field requests. Maintain service point data and transformer connectivity. Track utility asset lifecycle data including history and inspections. Resolve mapping, connectivity, and land-related data conflicts through office or field investigation. Support major projects such as facility relocations, load rearrangements, and new business work. Perform five to ten percent field work as needed. Requirements: One to two years of GIS experience through education or work. Understanding of GIS relationships and ability to update GIS models. Ability to maintain files, logs, and produce clear written documentation. Experience with GIS applications such as ESRI or Smallworld. Knowledge of electric utility operations is a plus. College degree, progress toward a degree, or relevant utility GIS experience. Experience with MicroStation or AutoCAD is a plus. Ability to use a personal vehicle for minimal field travel if required. Valid New Jersey driver’s license. Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Windows application
