About the Role
The GIS Mapping Specialist is responsible for creating, maintaining, updating, and analyzing geographic and spatial data used for telecommunications network planning, deployment, and operations. The role involves preparing accurate digital maps, validating field data, updating network infrastructure records, and supporting engineering and operations teams through GIS-based mapping and analysis.
Key Responsibilities
Create, update, and maintain GIS maps and geographic databases for telecommunications infrastructure.
Map and maintain network facilities such as fiber optic routes, cables, ducts, poles, towers, cabinets, sites, and other network assets.
Digitize and convert geographic, engineering, and field data into GIS databases.
Validate and ensure the accuracy, completeness, and consistency of mapping data.
Process GPS coordinates, survey data, satellite imagery, CAD drawings, and other geographic information.
Perform spatial analysis and generate maps, reports, and visualizations to support network planning and operations.
Integrate GIS data with engineering, network inventory, and other operational systems.
Review field survey data and incorporate approved changes into GIS records.
Identify discrepancies between GIS records and actual network infrastructure and coordinate corrections.
Assist in network route planning, expansion, optimization, and infrastructure documentation.
Maintain proper GIS database structure, metadata, naming conventions, and documentation.
Perform quality assurance and quality control of GIS data and map outputs.
Coordinate with Network Engineering, Planning, Field Operations, and other technical teams.
Prepare regular mapping reports and status updates.
Support GIS-related projects, system enhancements, data migration, and process improvements.
Ensure compliance with established GIS, data management, and documentation standards.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Geographic Information Systems, Geography, Geomatics, Geodetic Engineering, Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
2–5 years of relevant GIS, mapping, geospatial, or geographic information experience.
Hands-on experience using ArcGIS, ArcGIS Pro, QGIS, or similar GIS platforms.
Experience in creating, editing, digitizing, and maintaining spatial/geographic data.
Knowledge of coordinate systems, projections, GPS data, and spatial data formats.
Ability to interpret maps, engineering drawings, CAD files, and geographic data.
Strong attention to detail and data accuracy.
Good analytical and problem-solving skills.
Ability to work with large datasets and perform repetitive data validation and updating tasks.
Good communication and coordination skills.
Experience in telecommunications, fiber network, OSP, FTTH, utility mapping, or network infrastructure is highly preferred.
Pay: Php30,000.00 - Php40,000.00 per month
