About the Role
JOB SUMMARY
The Geodetic Engineer is responsible for providing surveying, geospatial, mapping, GIS, and land-related technical support for the development of renewable energy projects, including solar, wind, battery energy storage, and other renewable energy facilities.
The role supports the Project Development and Land Acquisition teams in evaluating potential project sites, validating land boundaries and ownership information, preparing GIS-based maps, conducting site surveys, assessing terrain and geographic conditions, and providing technical inputs necessary for land acquisition, permitting, feasibility studies, project design, and development planning.
The position requires close coordination with landowners, survey contractors, local government units, consultants, engineering teams, permitting specialists, and other project stakeholders.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Land and Site Assessment
Conduct preliminary geodetic and geographic assessment of potential renewable energy project sites.
Review cadastral maps, tax declarations, titles, survey plans, lot boundaries, and other available land-related documents.
Validate property boundaries and identify potential overlaps, encroachments, access constraints, and land-use conflicts.
Support land acquisition and land due diligence activities by providing technical assessment of properties.
Assist in identifying suitable areas for solar farms, wind projects, BESS facilities, substations, transmission lines, access roads, and other project infrastructure.
Conduct field verification of property boundaries, coordinates, terrain, access roads, waterways, and other relevant site conditions.
GIS and Mapping
Develop, maintain, and update GIS databases for renewable energy project development.
Prepare digital maps showing land parcels, boundaries, roads, transmission corridors, protected areas, waterways, elevation, existing infrastructure, and other relevant geographic information.
Perform GIS overlay analysis to identify suitable project areas and potential development constraints.
Integrate land, terrain, environmental, infrastructure, and engineering information into project maps.
Prepare maps and geospatial outputs for feasibility studies, land acquisition, permitting, project presentations, and management reports.
Maintain accurate geospatial records and ensure proper version control of project GIS data.
Surveying and Technical Support
Plan and coordinate topographic, boundary, cadastral, geotechnical, and other required surveys.
Prepare survey scopes, technical specifications, and requirements for external survey consultants and contractors.
Review survey reports, plans, coordinates, technical drawings, and deliverables submitted by survey contractors.
Conduct or supervise field surveys when required.
Perform coordinate verification and quality checks of survey data.
Provide technical support during project site investigations and development activities.
Renewable Energy Project Development
Support site identification and feasibility assessment for renewable energy projects.
Provide geospatial inputs for solar irradiation areas, wind project areas, transmission routes, substations, access roads, and project facilities.
Support preliminary site layout development through mapping and spatial analysis.
Identify geographic and land-related constraints that may affect project development.
Provide technical inputs for project development reports, investment studies, and internal project assessments.
Coordinate with engineering teams to ensure consistency between GIS information, survey data, and preliminary project designs.
Land Acquisition and Due Diligence Support
Assist the Land Acquisition team in verifying land parcels and property boundaries.
Prepare parcel maps and property overlays for landowner negotiations.
Support the identification and documentation of affected properties for project development.
Review survey and land documents for consistency with GIS and field information.
Assist in identifying right-of-way requirements for transmission lines, access roads, substations, and other project facilities.
Provide technical support during landowner and stakeholder discussions when boundary or location matters need clarification.
Permitting and Regulatory Support
Provide maps and technical geospatial information required for project permits and applications.
Support preparation of documentation for relevant government agencies and local government units.
Assist in ensuring that project sites and proposed facilities are properly represented in regulatory and permitting maps.
Coordinate with permitting and environmental teams regarding protected areas, land classification, easements, waterways, and other geographic constraints.
Data Management and Reporting
Maintain an organized database of survey records, coordinates, maps, land parcels, GIS layers, and related technical documents.
Ensure accuracy, completeness, and confidentiality of project geospatial information.
Prepare periodic reports on site assessment, survey activities, land parcels, and GIS deliverables.
Provide maps, charts, and technical presentations to management and project teams.
Maintain proper documentation and records of all survey and GIS activities.
Stakeholder and Contractor Coordination
Coordinate with external surveyors, GIS consultants, engineering consultants, landowners, contractors, and government agencies.
Monitor the quality and progress of outsourced surveying and mapping activities.
Review contractor deliverables and identify discrepancies requiring correction.
Participate in technical meetings, site inspections, and project coordination meetings.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education
Bachelor's Degree in
Geodetic Engineering
or a related field.
Must be a
Licensed Geodetic Engineer (LGE) in the Philippines
.
Experience
Preferably
2–5 years of relevant experience
in surveying, GIS, land development, renewable energy, infrastructure, construction, real estate, or related industries.
Experience in
renewable energy project development, land acquisition, site assessment, or transmission line development
is an advantage.
Candidates with experience in solar, wind, BESS, transmission, or large infrastructure projects are preferred.
Technical Skills
Proficient in
AutoCAD
and
GIS software
, preferably ArcGIS or QGIS.
Knowledge of
GNSS/GPS surveying, Total Station, RTK, and other modern surveying equipment
.
Knowledge of coordinate systems, projections, georeferencing, and spatial data management.
Ability to interpret cadastral maps, survey plans, topographic maps, technical drawings, and land documents.
Knowledge of topographic and boundary surveying principles.
Ability to perform GIS overlay, spatial analysis, digitization, and map preparation.
Familiarity with drone/UAV mapping and photogrammetry is an advantage.
Knowledge of remote sensing and satellite imagery is an advantage.
Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
Knowledge
Knowledge of Philippine land surveying and cadastral practices.
Familiarity with land titles, survey plans, technical descriptions, tax declarations, and property boundaries.
Understanding of land acquisition and right-of-way processes is an advantage.
Familiarity with renewable energy project development processes is preferred.
Knowledge of permitting requirements and government agencies relevant to land and renewable energy development is an advantage.
