About the Role
POSITION SUMMARY: **Develops and maintains the Cooperative's GIS mapping database and provides necessary data to the Engineering Department.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
Technical degree or associate degree in GIS, AutoCAD, Geography, Engineering Technology, Surveying or another related field, preferred
Extensive education/work experience may be considered in lieu of education preference.
Education or proven work experience with Esri or AutoCAD or a related field, is preferred. If this certificate or work experience is not already obtained, employee must be willing to earn Esri certificate within 12 months.
Must have the ability to plan and organize work.
Must have knowledge of personal computer's operating procedures, spreadsheets, and various types of software including Word, Excel and GIS software.
Must have coordination, reading and analytical, computer, math, and writing and communication skills.
Must have good human relations skills.
Must have the ability to operate a computer and utilize its various software and peripheral equipment.
Must be willing to work overtime, holidays, and weekends when needed or in emergency situations.
JOB OVERVIEW:
** Assists engineering with work-order GIS data integration for system analysis.
Prepares plats for right-of-way easements, highway permits and Corp of Engineer permits.
Compiles shape files and associated data to send to aarious entities.
Works with Engineering staff on preparing maps and system models for Construction Work Plans, Long Range Plans and other related studies.
Maintains accurate database of system plant by county and incorporated city limits.
Performs necessary fieldwork using GPS to assure the accuracy of the mapping system.
Makes vinyl signage as requested by Engineering or safety for transformers, trucks and other equipment.
Must remain informed of developments in ESRI-based GIS softward, GPS data collection, electrical models, data management and other tools that create efficiency for electrical and fiber mapping.
Performs other related duties as required and assigned.
