GIS Platform Owner

The GIS Platform Owner is responsible for the strategic ownership, governance, and continuous improvement of Flywheel Energy’s enterprise GIS platform. Reporting to the Director of IT, the role serves as the primary liaison between IT and operational business units to ensure GIS tools, data, and capabilities support land, operations, engineering, and environmental functions. Key responsibilities include: - Serving as product owner for the enterprise GIS platform, including ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Online, ArcGIS Enterprise, and related tools. - Defining and maintaining the GIS platform roadmap in alignment with business priorities. - Establishing data standards, naming conventions, metadata governance, licensing, access controls, and vendor relationships. - Overseeing the quality, accuracy, integrity, and accessibility of GIS datasets such as well locations, pipelines, land boundaries, permits, and environmental features. - Developing and maintaining workflows for spatial data ingestion, transformation, publishing, and quality management. - Collaborating with land, operations, engineering, environmental, and IT teams to support business decisions. - Providing GIS training, documentation, user support, and promoting GIS adoption across the organization. - Managing GIS projects, vendors, requirements, timelines, deliverables, and stakeholder communication. - Supporting the long-term GIS strategy, including integration of artificial intelligence into geospatial tools. Required qualifications include at least five years of hands-on experience with the Esri ArcGIS platform, proficiency in spatial data management, geodatabase design, and data quality practices, and experience integrating GIS with enterprise systems such as ERP, land management, or SCADA platforms. Candidates should also have experience owning a technology platform or product, managing roadmaps and stakeholder priorities, and familiarity with oil and gas, land, or environmental data. Preferred qualifications include ArcGIS Enterprise administration experience, upstream oil and gas industry experience, Python, SQL, or FME for spatial automation and ETL workflows, Esri certifications, and experience leading enterprise technology change initiatives. Occasional after-hours support and up to 25% travel may be required.
