About the Role
We are looking for a passionate and skilled Python GIS Developer who has strong programming and geospatial data processing capabilities. The ideal candidate should be comfortable working with spatial data, backend development, GIS servers, and Web GIS technologies to build scalable geospatial solutions.
This role is best suited for candidates who enjoy solving real-world GIS problems using Python and modern geospatial tools.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop and maintain Web GIS applications
Work with spatial data formats (Shapefile, GeoJSON, GPKG, GeoTIFF)
Integrate GIS services using GeoServer (WMS, WFS, WCS)
Perform spatial analysis (cut/fill, contours, buffers, overlays, terrain analysis)
Develop backend GIS APIs using Python & Django
Implement interactive maps using Leaflet / OpenLayers
Handle CRS / projection transformations
Optimize geospatial data performance and storage
Debug GIS-related issues between frontend and backend
Collaborate with frontend developers and domain experts
Required Skills:
Strong knowledge of GIS concepts & spatial analysis
Proficiency in Python
Experience with Django / Django REST Framework
Hands-on experience with GeoServer
Knowledge of PostGIS / PostgreSQL\- Web mapping libraries: Leaflet / OpenLayers
Understanding of raster & vector data processing
Familiarity with GDAL / Rasterio / Shapely / Fiona
Experience with REST APIs
