GIS / Remote Sensing Specialist (Long-Term Contract)

#### **Company:** Design District Digital #### **Location:** Remote **Job Type:** Long-Term Contract #### **Level:** Mid to Senior We’re building advanced remote sensing capabilities into our field-monitoring platform at **Design District Digital** and are looking for a **GIS / Remote Sensing Specialist** to join us on a long-term contract basis. #### About the Role You’ll play a key role in transforming satellite imagery into actionable, field-level insights for agriculture. The work focuses on processing and analyzing satellite data over agricultural field boundaries, computing and interpreting key vegetation and moisture indices, and delivering clean, reliable reports that drive real-world decisions. #### Key Responsibilities * Compute and interpret vegetation and moisture indices (NDVI, NDWI, NDMI, SAVI, and others as relevant) from multi-spectral satellite imagery * Work with Sentinel-2 and Landsat data sources * Handle preprocessing tasks including cloud masking, atmospheric correction, and image compositing * Extract field-level statistics and insights using provided agricultural field boundaries (GeoJSON, shapefiles, etc.) * Produce clear, high-quality remote sensing reports and visualizations for stakeholders * Collaborate with our team to integrate remote sensing workflows into the platform What We’re Looking For * Strong understanding of remote sensing principles and how spectral indices are derived from satellite bands * Solid experience working with common geospatial data formats: **GeoJSON, Shapefiles, GeoTIFF, KML** * Hands-on familiarity with Sentinel-2 and Landsat imagery, including cloud masking and preprocessing pipelines * Bonus skills: * Python geospatial stack ( **geemap, rasterio, geopandas, earthengine-api** , etc.) * Experience with ArcGIS / ArcPy * Knowledge of additional indices or time-series analysis Our Process To ensure a great mutual fit, we begin with a **short paid test task** .
