About the Role
AECOM is seeking a technology-focused GIS professional to work as a seconded employee within the Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton Installation Geospatial Information and Services office. The GIS Specialist III will be a full-time AECOM employee reporting to the Associate Vice President and GIS Senior Manager in the Technology Services Group. The successful candidate will lead a team of GIS specialists supporting the United States Marine Corps.
Key responsibilities include:
* Leading GIS data management, geospatial analysis, modelling and cartographic production activities.
* Developing, deploying and supporting GIS capabilities across the installation.
* Performing geospatial data conversion, migration and exploitation.
* Gathering and documenting technical and system requirements.
* Preparing project plans and implementing quality-assurance procedures.
* Reviewing the work of junior staff and developing technical quality-review processes.
* Working with government personnel to plan and execute mission objectives.
* Maintaining spatial and non-spatial data according to established standards.
* Creating and maintaining data within an ArcGIS Enterprise environment.
* Researching and compiling information from multiple sources.
* Producing reports and visualizations using ArcGIS Pro, Portal for ArcGIS, Tableau or Power BI.
* Communicating project status to program leadership, project teams and client stakeholders.
* Providing team leadership, analytical support, decision-making and conflict resolution.
Minimum qualifications:
* Bachelor’s degree plus at least four years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
* At least two years of GIS project-management experience.
* Valid driver’s licence and ability to pass AECOM’s motor-vehicle-record review.
* United States citizenship due to the nature of the work.
Preferred qualifications include experience with ArcGIS Enterprise, ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Desktop, AutoCAD Civil 3D, AutoCAD Map, Autodesk Connector for ArcGIS, GPS field-data collection, relational databases, geodatabase design, technical writing, cartographic design and SDSFIE standards.
