The University Town of Freiberg is looking for a GIS Specialist (m/f/d) to join the Urban Development Department, specifically the Sub-Department of Urban Development, as soon as possible. The position is permanent.
Freiberg, with over 41,000 inhabitants, is a charming city located centrally in Saxony within the UNESCO World Heritage site of the Erzgebirge/Krušnohoří Mining Region. It is easily accessible by train or car from Chemnitz and Dresden, and offers an excellent quality of life for living, working, raising a family, and experiencing history and culture.
The Urban Development Department is responsible for the spatial, built, and infrastructural development of the city. It also houses the lower heritage protection authority and the municipal statistics office. Currently, the department employs twelve staff members, five of whom are assigned to the Sub-Department of Urban Development.
The department is located at Heubnerstraße 15. The position entails supporting formal and informal land-use planning procedures, coordinating GIS data for the department, and maintaining and creating digital planning documents and databases for urban development projects.
YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
GIS tasks (e.g., coordinating the GIS interface, maintaining GIS data, importing and exporting data, cartographic preparation of plans according to content specifications, providing GIS data to third parties)
Supporting formal land-use planning procedures and informal planning initiatives (e.g., managing administrative files digitally and analogously according to content requirements, drafting official notices for each procedural step)

YOUR PROFILE:
Vocational qualification as a surveying technician, geomatics engineer, or equivalent, along with professional experience in public administration, or
Vocational qualification as a administrative clerk, combined with relevant professional experience in using geographic information systems (GIS) and CAD software
Proficiency with the planning software GeoMedia SmartClient Kommunal (GMSC-K) is desirable
Confident use of standard Microsoft Office applications
Basic knowledge of building and planning law, including the Planning Zoning Ordinance (PlanZV) and general administrative law, is desirable
