GIS Strateg / GIS Specialist – Strategy & Analytics

Boliden is seeking a GIS Strateg / GIS Specialist for the Land Use and Community Relations department within Boliden Mines. The role focuses on developing and implementing GIS-based ways of working, coordinating geodata related to properties, land and forests, and supporting digital development across the organization. The position combines strategic GIS work with operational project involvement in areas such as land acquisition, biodiversity, reindeer husbandry, forest management, business expansion, and land-use matters. The GIS specialist will work closely with business teams, IT, external consultants, project managers, legal functions, and GIS users across Boliden’s mining operations. Responsibilities include: - Contribute to the development of GIS strategies and workflows. - Drive GIS development with the business, including map layers, functions, and skills development. - Ensure the GIS system works, develops, and remains updated together with IT and external consultants. - Participate in projects related to operational expansion, land purchases, biodiversity, reindeer husbandry, and forest management. - Support property, forest, and land-related work with a GIS focus. - Provide support, training, and assistance to GIS users. - Ensure geographic information is structured, current, and accessible. - Produce maps and GIS-based decision support materials. Requirements include academic education in GIS, technical surveying, spatial/community planning, or a similar field; experience in GIS and digitalization; experience in project management and change work; Swedish and English language skills; and a B driving licence due to travel and fieldwork.
