GIS Technician

29,000 broken pipeline connections. One GIS team. Sound like your kind of problem? I'm hiring a GIS Technician for a natural gas infrastructure platform and this one is genuinely interesting if you like fixing things properly. They are mid-way through a serious data modernization project. Years of pipeline data drawn in Google Earth, never properly connected. Now it all has to be trace-ready. That means real work: closing topology errors, snapping block valves to the network, processing field corrections, and rebuilding the dataset that regulatory reporting and field ops actually depend on. You would be the second person on the GIS team, working directly with their GIS Analyst. Not a cog. The person who gets it done. What you need: 1 to 5 years of hands-on GIS editing (linear networks, connectivity, attributes) Production-level ArcGIS Pro / ArcGIS Online, actual editing, not just making maps look nice Pipeline or utility GIS experience strongly preferred What earns you bonus points: UPDM, Utility Network, ArcGIS Enterprise, gas distribution, PHMSA or 811, Python. The upside: they are moving to UPDM now, Enterprise and Utility Network next. Get in at the start and you grow with the system rather than inheriting someone else's finished build. They are also an AI-forward shop, they actively want you using it, not hiding it. Location: Midland, TX (on-site) or fully remote.
