Primary Services is actively recruiting for a GIS Technician to support a prestigious client in the utility industry. This role provides technical support through land analysis, drafting, mapping, and documentation activities that help secure rights for company facilities across private and public lands. The GIS Technician will use surveying knowledge, AutoCAD, GIS tools, and field data to create accurate property descriptions, drawings, and maps supporting engineering, legal, environmental, and operational initiatives. Responsibilities: Collect and input field data into electronic job folders and project documentation systems. Interpret deeds, maps, field notes, and survey information to determine accurate locations of boundaries and company facilities. Analyze electronic data and perform mathematical adjustments to support accurate mapping deliverables. Determine boundary and easement locations between private ownership and company property interests. Prepare maps, sketches, plats, and metes and bounds descriptions for company interests. Create legal reports, maps, and plats for engineering, architecture, environmental, legal, and service consultant needs. Maintain company easement and property rights information within mapping systems and GIS databases. Delineate routes, areas, and sites for fee and easement acquisitions supporting utility operations. Perform field measurements and support survey crew activities as required. Produce scaled drawings and technical deliverables using AutoCAD and coordinate geometry software. Process field data using GPS equipment and survey data management tools. Support multiple projects by managing documentation, priorities, and technical deliverables. Qualifications: Experience with AutoCAD or CADD drafting, including creating and updating technical drawings, maps, and design documents. Experience using GIS software, including ArcMap or similar platforms, for mapping facilities, easements, and property information. Knowledge of surveying techniques, land mapping principles, boundary locations, coordinates, and metes and bounds descriptions. Experience with field data collection tools, including GPS equipment and Trimble Business Center or similar processing software. Experience supporting utility, pipeline, energy, or land rights projects preferred. Knowledge of real estate principles and land boundary law. Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Outlook, and Word. Ability to interpret technical documents, field notes, maps, and property records. Associate degree or equivalent technical education in surveying, drafting, GIS, engineering technology, or related field preferred.
