GIS Technician

Job Description The GIS Technician supports the Engineering and Operations departments by creating, updating, and maintaining Del-Co Water’s enterprise GIS mapping system. This role involves field data collection, GPS mapping of water utility assets, digitizing engineering plans, and providing GIS support to internal staff. Key Responsibilities Collect and verify field GPS data for water mains, valves, hydrants, and service lines. Digitize construction as-built drawings into Esri ArcGIS Enterprise. Perform data entry, QA/QC, and spatial database updates. Generate maps, reports, and web mapping applications using ArcGIS Online and ArcGIS Pro. Assist field crews with GIS tools, mobile applications (Field Maps, Survey123), and GPS equipment. Respond to internal GIS data requests in a timely manner. Qualifications Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in GIS, Geography, Drafting, or related technical field. 1-3 years of GIS mapping experience, preferably in utilities or local government. Proficiency with ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Online, Field Maps, and Survey123. Experience operating survey-grade GPS equipment. Valid driver’s license required.
