Job Description
We are looking for an engaged and motivated intern in the field of mobility analysis with a focus on GIS (Geographic Information Systems) and sustainable mobility. In this role, you will actively contribute to forward-looking projects in sustainable mobility solutions. You will become part of a dynamic team developing and implementing innovative approaches to improve urban mobility—gaining insights into the planning, analysis, and visualization of mobility data to support sustainable transport models.
This is a paid internship offering practical experience and valuable skills for your future career.
Your Role at EcoLibro
Collaborate in a small team with analysts and consultants on exciting mobility projects for municipalities, companies, and public institutions. A key focus of your work will be using QGIS: you will prepare geospatial data, conduct spatial analyses, and support visualization efforts.
Research and structure data, and assist in analyzing and preparing project results—for example, in Excel, maps, graphics, and presentations. Additionally, you will help organize workshops, conduct research, and support day-to-day project tasks.
Your Profile
You are currently studying Geography, Earth Sciences, Mobility Management, Transportation Planning, or a related field.
You have solid experience with QGIS and can independently perform basic spatial analyses (GIS should not be completely new to you).
You have a foundational understanding of geospatial data and various data formats, and ideally have already worked with spatial data during your studies or in personal projects.
Prior experience with data sources such as OpenStreetMap (OSM) or other geospatial datasets is advantageous but not required.
Knowledge of Python, handling large datasets, web mapping, or advanced QGIS functions is a plus, though not mandatory.
You work carefully, analytically, and structurally, quickly integrate into new topics, and are eager to contribute your own ideas.
You are proficient with common Microsoft Office applications—especially Excel.
You are passionate about sustainable mobility and want to gain practical experience in real-world consulting projects, gradually taking on more responsibility.
What You Can Look Forward To
Home office up to 60%, with on-site presence in Troisdorf or Jesberg/North Hesse. In Jesberg, free accommodation is provided.
Hands-on involvement in real sustainability mobility projects—not routine internship tasks.
Insight into the work of a consulting firm at the intersection of mobility, data analysis, GIS, municipalities, and businesses.
Opportunity to apply and expand your GIS skills across diverse applications.
Participation in client events—mostly online, occasionally in person at client sites.
A straightforward entry into a dynamic, interdisciplinary, and innovation-driven team with ample room for creative input.
Open communication and feedback culture, with close professional collaboration within the team.
Training opportunities, e.g., online courses in QGIS.
Regular company events: summer festival, Christmas party, and informal team meetings.
Very flat hierarchies and a respectful, collaborative, peer-to-peer working environment.
Potential for continuation as a student assistant (Werkstudent) after the internship, should mutual interest arise, and further involvement in future-oriented mobility topics.
How to Apply
We welcome your application—even if you don’t meet all the listed qualifications. For us, strong GIS skills, a structured work style, willingness to learn, and your passion for actively shaping sustainable mobility are most important.
Since we intend this internship to be the start of a longer-term collaboration, please apply only if you envision continuing with EcoLibro as a student assistant afterward.
Please send your complete application documents—including your earliest possible start date and desired internship duration—to:
