Custom web GIS solutions
Tailored OpenStreetMap-based maps

We are over 60 WhereGroupies from diverse professional backgrounds, spread across our offices in Bonn (headquarters), Berlin, Freiburg, and Hamburg. In our teams, you’ll collaboratively shape and implement a wide range of projects on equal footing. Teamwork is truly lived here — we support each other and continuously learn together.

What awaits you:
You plan and implement GIS and geospatial data infrastructures in close collaboration with our clients, using open-source software.
You work on challenging GIS projects on exciting topics, such as the expansion of renewable energy and infrastructure development.
You support clients in replacing proprietary software with open-source alternatives, ensuring digital sovereignty for their projects.
You develop concrete concepts and detailed specifications.
You further develop desktop and web GIS software — and are not hesitant to engage with other team members’ or clients’ source code.
You work with geospatial data, spatial databases, and set up map services.
You may also serve as a trainer for our training institute, FOSS Academy, and represent us at conferences and symposia.
Who we’re looking for:
Several years of hands-on experience with QGIS and QGIS customization.
Proficiency with the QGIS Python API.
Experience configuring QGIS (e.g., profiles, QGIS GUI, plugins).
Foundational knowledge of QGIS integration with relevant software and services (GDI), such as QGIS Server, QWC2, QField, PostgreSQL, and PostGIS.
Completed vocational training or university degree in natural sciences, engineering, IT, or a related field.
Experience conducting workshops, training sessions, or courses.
Demonstrated initiative and self-motivation.
Very good command of German and English.
What we offer:
A dedicated 10-person QGIS team, deeply passionate about QGIS, with broad and diverse expertise and exciting projects across all thematic areas and industries.
Ongoing training and professional development, collaborative learning, and joint skill-building — alongside the opportunity to carve out your own niche and build deep expert knowledge.
Flexible working hours centered around core hours from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. — whether you’re an early riser or a night owl, there’s something for everyone.
Choose the work model that suits you best — remote, office-based, or hybrid — and we’ll support your choice.
We’re especially proud of our workplace culture — it’s more than just a job. We regularly celebrate our unique team spirit with legendary team events.
