We support clients throughout the entire project lifecycle—from initial analysis and planning to software development and operational deployment—covering GIS and database projects. Our service portfolio includes complex GIS system landscapes, custom WebGIS solutions, tailored OpenStreetMap maps, mobile applications, and municipal geoportals.
We are over 60 WhereGroupies from diverse professional backgrounds, spread across our offices in Bonn (headquarters), Berlin, Freiburg, and Hamburg. QGIS Consultant (m/f/d)
For our offices in Bonn, Berlin, and Freiburg, with possible deployment in Hamburg or hybrid work.
What awaits you:
Plan and implement GIS and geospatial data infrastructures for clients using open-source software, in close collaboration with them.
Work on challenging GIS projects on exciting topics, such as renewable energy expansion and infrastructure development.
Support clients in replacing proprietary software with open-source alternatives, ensuring digital sovereignty for their projects.
Develop concrete concepts and detailed specifications.
Further develop desktop and web-based GIS software—without hesitation in reviewing or modifying team members’ or clients’ source code.
Work with geospatial data, spatial databases, and configure map services.
Optionally, serve as a trainer for our training institute, FOSS Academy, and represent WhereGroup at conferences and symposia.
Who we’re looking for:
Several years of practical experience working with QGIS and customizing QGIS.
Knowledge of the QGIS Python API.
Experience configuring QGIS (e.g., profiles, QGIS GUI, plugins).
Foundational understanding of QGIS integration with relevant software and services (GDI), such as QGIS Server, QWC2, QField, PostgreSQL, and PostGIS.
Completed vocational training or university degree in natural sciences, engineering, IT, or a related field.
Experience conducting workshops, training sessions, or courses.
Demonstrated initiative and self-motivation.
Excellent command of German and English.
