Junior GIS Analyst

Description Summary We are looking for a motivated Junior GIS Analyst who’s ready to jump into real project work and grow within a multidisciplinary engineering environment. If you enjoy solving spatial problems, building clean datasets, and supporting engineers with maps and analysis that actually get used, this role is for you. This position will be in-office in our Rochester, NY office. What You’ll Do Support civil engineering teams with GIS mapping, data management, and spatial analysis Create high-quality maps, figures, and exhibits for reports, proposals, and field teams Maintain and update geodatabases, feature classes, and metadata Perform spatial queries, geoprocessing tasks, and basic modeling Assist with field data collection and integration (GPS, mobile apps, survey data) Help standardize workflows, templates, and data QA/QC processes Collaborate with project managers to understand requirements and deliver accurate GIS products on schedule Position Requirements What You Bring Bachelor’s degree in Geography, GIS, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field Experience with ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Online, and basic geoprocessing tools Familiarity with data formats such as shapefiles, geodatabases, CAD files, and spreadsheets Strong attention to detail and an interest in learning engineering-focused GIS workflows Solid communication skills and the ability to work with technical and non-technical teammates Bonus points for: Python/ArcPy exposure, QGIS experience, GPS data collection, or coursework in remote sensing Why Join Us Work alongside experienced engineers and GIS professionals Opportunities to grow into project-level GIS responsibilities Competitive salary, benefits, and professional development support A collaborative culture where your ideas and curiosity are welcome The chance to contribute to infrastructure, environmental, and community-focused projects across the Rochester region Salary Range: $50,000 - $70,000 As of this posting, the estimated annual base salary range for this position is $50,000 –$70,000. Actual base salary will be based upon criteria such as experience, qualifications and skill level.
