Bangladesh Bondhu Foundation (BONDHU) is looking for Junior GIS Expert Job Description / Responsibility Context: We are seeking a skilled and motivated Junior GIS Expert to support geospatial analysis and mapping for afforestation, coastal restoration, sustainable agriculture, crop production, rice cultivation, and climate-smart agriculture initiatives. The successful candidate will leverage GIS and remote sensing technologies to support field operations, project planning, monitoring, evaluation, and reporting, enabling data-driven decision-making across diverse landscapes and communities. Key Duties & Responsibilities Design, implement, and manage GIS-based data systems for Carbon Offset project planning and monitoring. Lead geospatial mapping, satellite imagery analysis, and spatial modeling for afforestation and restoration programs Analyze soil moisture data and integrate spatial models to support sustainable agricultural planning Support Monitoring, Reporting, and Verification (MRV) systems for agricultural and climate adaptation projects. Develop and maintain spatial databases with consistent data validation procedures Collaborate with field teams to collect, interpret, and integrate GPS/remote sensing data Train staff and community partners in GIS tools, mobile-based data collection, and mapping techniques Educational Requirements Bachelor of Science (BSc) in Geography and Environment, Forestry, Urban & Regional Planning Master of Science (MSc) in Environmental Science Master of Science (MSc) in GIS, Remote Sensing or a related field Skills Required: Geography, Environmental Science, Python, GIS/ Remote Sensing, Forestry, Urban Planning, Environmental analysis, Geospatial Analysis Experience Requirements 2 to 5 year(s) The applicants should have experience in the following business area(s): NGO,Development Agency Professional Experience: Minimum 2 to 5 years of progressive experience in GIS-related roles, preferably in environmental or climate adaptation projects Expertise in geospatial software (ArcGIS, QGIS, Google Earth Engine, SNAP, ERDAS IMAGINE etc.) and remote sensing platforms, Python programing Experience with field data collection tools (e.g., KoboToolbox, Survey123, GPS devices) Familiarity with carbon mapping, forest stratification, and agricultural modeling. Proficiency in spatial data analysis, modeling, and database management Desirable Skills: Knowledge of international frameworks like the Ramsar Convention, REDD+, and the Paris Agreement Understanding of carbon offset methodologies, MRV systems, and compliance documentation Strong analytical, communication, and mentoring skills Commitment to gender equality, sustainability, and community-centered development Job Location Dhaka (Bosila)
