Lead GIS Data Engineer

HERE Technologies is hiring a Lead GIS Data Engineer for the HERE GIS Data Suite (HGDS) team in the Cracow Metropolitan Area, Poland. The HGDS team develops and expands HERE's geospatial datasets for integration with GIS platforms, with a focus on Esri technologies and support for a wide range of GIS formats. The role includes defining and owning the technical architecture and long-term strategy for GIS data pipelines, processing systems, and geospatial platforms. Responsibilities include supporting Solution Architects and Engineering on spatial data formats, modeling, projections, specifications, and validations; leading cross-team GIS data engineering initiatives; evaluating and adopting tools and platform capabilities such as ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Enterprise, FME Form, and cloud GIS platforms; establishing data engineering standards and architecture patterns; reviewing complex design questions, data model changes, and platform integrations; building cross-functional networks of SMEs; mentoring engineers; and ensuring scalability, reliability, and compliance of geospatial data products across formats and delivery pipelines. Requirements include 8+ years of experience in GIS data engineering or related fields with technical leadership experience; a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Geoinformatics, Computer Science, Geodesy, Geography, or equivalent; expertise in ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Enterprise, FME Form, ArcGIS Network Analyst, ArcPy, and cloud-based GIS platforms; familiarity with QGIS; deep expertise in geospatial data modeling, schema architecture, network dataset design, and cross-platform data harmonization at scale; experience with automated QA/QC frameworks, performance optimization, data quality standards, cloud-native GIS pipelines, multi-format processing, and enterprise spatial data infrastructure; ability to work with customers on complex spatial data projects; strong communication skills in English; and willingness and ability to travel.
