About the Role
Company Overview
We are an aerospace and technology group operating with our own helicopter fleet, an internal IT department, and state-of-the-art equipment—including a Riegl sensor, Applanix inertial navigation system, onboard computers, and ground-based GNSS base stations.
We are seeking to onboard a LiDAR Data Processing & Quality Control Specialist / Lead who will bring technical expertise, quality assurance methodologies, and advanced geomatics knowledge to transform raw data captured by our fleet into finalized cartographic products ready for market delivery.
You will collaborate closely with our IT division, flight operations, and commercial team to define and optimize the end-to-end geospatial data value chain.
Key Responsibilities
Quality Assurance & Calibration (QA/QC): Oversee and validate the kinematic and geometric accuracy of the point cloud—including boresight alignment, flight-line matching, and calibration against ground control points (GCPs).
Trajectory Computation & Reconstruction: Process GNSS/IMU data using Applanix solutions (POSPac Air) and generate georeferenced raw point clouds in the Riegl environment (RiPROCESS).
Classification & Product Extraction: Define and automate filtering and classification algorithms (ground, vegetation, buildings, power lines) using Terrasolid (TerraScan, TerraMatch) or equivalent advanced 3D point cloud processing tools.
Technical Guidance & Product Definition: Advise the company on specifications, tolerances, and final output formats (DTM, DSM, contour lines, CAD/GIS vectors, web viewers like Potree) based on client requirements (civil engineering, utilities, public administration).
Technical Leadership & Workflow Design: Partner with our IT department to design efficient processing, storage, and export architectures for large-scale geospatial datasets.
Required Profile
Education: Degree or Bachelor’s in Geomatics Engineering, Surveying, Cartography, Geodesy, or a related technical field.
Mandatory Experience: Demonstrable experience in airborne LiDAR data processing, adjustment, and classification—preferably from rotary- or fixed-wing platforms.
Software Proficiency:
- Riegl environment (RiPROCESS, RiSCAN PRO)
- Applanix environment (POSPac Air / Inertial Explorer)
- Terrasolid environment (TerraScan, TerraMatch, TerraModeler) or advanced 3D point cloud tools (e.g., Global Mapper, LiDAR3D)
Geomatics Expertise: Strong command of coordinate reference systems (CRS), geodesy, laser pulse physics, and topographic validation methodologies.
What We Offer
Top-Tier Infrastructure: Own helicopter fleet, high-density Riegl sensors, Applanix equipment, and fully integrated airborne systems.
Technical Support: In-house IT department managing infrastructure, servers, and high-performance computing resources.
Flexible Contracting Options: Full-time employment (as LiDAR Technical Lead) or senior consultancy/collaboration agreement, depending on candidate profile and availability.
Work Location/Mode: Hybrid model—remote work for office-based (gabinete) processing phases, with occasional on-site presence for calibration and flight testing at our base.
