Curriculum
The 6-month full-time program includes a 3-week project phase.
Introduction to GIS: Fundamentals, application areas, data types, and more
GIS Applications: Hands-on work with ArcGIS Pro 3.0.x and QGIS 3.22.x as desktop GIS; GIS data structures and functionalities; inter-system compatibility issues; ArcGIS extensions: Spatial Analyst and 3D Analyst, illustrated with real-world case studies
Databases: SQL, PostgreSQL (PostGIS), and GIS & AI integration
Geospatial Data Management: Data filtering, import, and value-added processing; AAA data and Open Data; geospatial data law; quality management
WebGIS: ArcGIS Online
Mobile Data Capture: Using ArcGIS Field Maps, ArcGIS Survey123, and ArcGIS QuickCapture (ArcGIS/QGIS)
Programming: General Python programming and ArcPy for ArcGIS/QGIS; automation using ArcGIS ModelBuilder
Drone Technology: Fundamentals of drone flight operations and drone image analysis
Soft Skills: Team training, communication training, job application coaching, individual mentoring, presentation techniques, and moderation skills
Target Group
Unemployed and job-seeking individuals with a completed bachelor’s or master’s degree in fields such as Geography, Geosciences, Biology, Archaeology, Civil Engineering and Surveying, Regional, Urban, and Spatial Planning, Architecture, Landscape Ecology and Planning, Environmental Sciences, or related disciplines. Also suitable for individuals with vocational training (e.g., as a Geomatics Engineer, Surveyor, or Technical Draftsperson) and relevant professional experience.
Funding
The program is certified under AZAV (Accreditation and Approval Regulation for Vocational Training) and can be fully funded (100%). We are happy to advise you on your personal funding options (education voucher).
Certification
Upon successful completion, participants receive a detailed certificate from the training provider. Additionally, the Esri certificate "ArcGIS Pro Foundation" is attainable.
