Breakthrough Talent is recruiting a Senior GIS Consultant on behalf of an award-winning environmental and engineering consultancy in London. The company works across infrastructure, renewable energy, water management, and urban regeneration projects across the UK and internationally.
Role Summary:
As a Senior GIS Consultant, you will lead spatial data management, GIS strategy, and web mapping delivery for major infrastructure and environmental impact projects. You will act as the key GIS lead on multi-disciplinary project teams, supervising junior analysts and driving innovation in Web GIS and automation.
Key Responsibilities:
Project Leadership: Lead GIS delivery for complex environmental impact assessments (EIA), site constraint studies, and engineering schemes.
Web GIS & Enterprise Deployment: Configure ArcGIS Online / Enterprise solutions, custom web apps, and mobile data workflows (Survey123, Field Maps).
Data Management & ETL: Design spatial data structures, manage spatial geodatabases, and automate repetitive workflows using Python and FME.
Client Advisory: Advise clients on geospatial strategy, data licensing, coordinate systems, and spatial data governance.
Team Supervision: Mentor and review the technical work of GIS Analysts and Assistant Consultants.
Requirements:
Degree in GIS, Geography, Environmental Science, Geomatics, or related discipline.
5+ years professional GIS experience within consultancy, engineering, or environmental sectors.
Expert technical knowledge of Esri ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Online, ArcGIS Enterprise, and QGIS.
Strong scripting skills in Python (ArcPy, GeoPandas) or FME.
Experience delivering GIS support for Environmental Impact Assessments (EIA) or infrastructure projects.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
