**Location:** Jakarta (with regular travel to North Kalimantan and project sites as required)
PT. Global Eco Rescue Lestari (GERL) is a nature-based solutions company dedicated to developing large-scale ecosystem restoration, conservation, and carbon projects across Indonesia. We work closely with government institutions, local communities, international partners, and private investors to deliver high-integrity carbon projects that generate lasting environmental, social, and economic benefits.
We are seeking an experienced **Senior GIS Specialist** to strengthen our technical team and support the development of internationally recognized carbon projects.
**Position Summary** The Senior GIS Specialist will lead the spatial planning, GIS analysis, remote sensing, and geospatial data management required for the development of carbon projects, including peatland and mangrove ecosystems. The role requires close collaboration with technical consultants, field teams, government agencies, and international stakeholders to ensure spatial data meets international carbon standards and supports project implementation.
#### **Key Responsibilities**
* Lead all GIS and remote sensing activities for carbon project development.
* Develop, manage, and maintain high-quality geospatial databases.
* Produce project maps, spatial analyses, and technical reports for internal and external stakeholders.
* Conduct land cover classification, change detection, and spatial modelling.
* Support project boundary delineation and carbon accounting requirements.
* Analyze satellite imagery, drone imagery, and other spatial datasets.
* Prepare GIS outputs required for Project Design Documents (PDD), feasibility studies, and validation/verification processes.
* Coordinate field data collection using GPS and mobile GIS applications.
* Ensure data quality, metadata management, and spatial data governance.
* Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including carbon scientists, ecologists, social teams, and project developers.
* Support engagement with government agencies regarding spatial planning, land administration, and licensing.
* Mentor junior GIS staff and contribute to continuous improvement of GIS workflows.
**Qualifications**
* Bachelor's or Master's Degree in:
+ Geographic Information Systems (GIS)
+ Geomatics
+ Geography
+ Forestry
+ Environmental Science
+ Remote Sensing
+ or related disciplines.
* Minimum **5 years** of professional GIS experience.
* Minimum **3 years** of direct experience supporting **carbon project development** (ARR, REDD+, Blue Carbon, Peatland, Mangrove, or other Nature-Based Solutions projects).
* Demonstrated experience working with international carbon standards (Verra VCS, CCB, Plan Vivo, Gold Standard, or equivalent) is highly desirable.

* Bahasa Indonesia proficiency is required.
