The Role We are seeking an experienced Senior GIS Specialist to lead geospatial data management, spatial analysis, GIS application development, mapping, visualization, and geospatial technology initiatives.
The ideal candidate will combine advanced GIS expertise with strong analytical, technical, project-management, and stakeholder-management capabilities to develop accurate, scalable, and user-focused geospatial solutions that support strategic planning, operational efficiency, asset management, and organizational decision-making.
Key Responsibilities
Develop and implement GIS strategies, standards, workflows, and governance frameworks.
Lead complex GIS projects from requirements definition through analysis, development, implementation, and ongoing support.
Design and maintain enterprise geospatial databases, spatial data models, GIS layers, and geospatial information systems.
Collect, integrate, manage, analyze, and visualize geospatial data from multiple sources.
Develop high-quality maps, dashboards, spatial reports, analytical outputs, and decision-support products.
Conduct advanced spatial analysis to identify patterns, relationships, trends, risks, opportunities, and geographic dependencies.
Support urban planning, infrastructure, environmental, transportation, asset-management, real-estate, and operational planning initiatives through GIS analysis.
Develop geographic datasets from surveys, satellite imagery, aerial photography, GPS, CAD drawings, field observations, remote sensing, and other sources.
Integrate GIS data with enterprise databases, business systems, operational platforms, and external datasets.
Establish data standards, schemas, metadata requirements, naming conventions, and data-quality rules.
Maintain authoritative geospatial datasets and ensure appropriate version control and data lineage.
Perform data validation, cleansing, transformation, geocoding, spatial joins, coordinate transformations, and data normalization.
Identify and resolve spatial-data inconsistencies, duplicates, gaps, topology errors, and accuracy issues.
Establish quality-assurance and quality-control processes for geospatial data and analytical outputs.
Conduct spatial accuracy assessments and validate datasets against approved source information.
Manage coordinate reference systems, projections, spatial reference transformations, and geodetic requirements.
Develop and maintain GIS databases using appropriate spatial database technologies.
Work with spatial databases, SQL, relational databases, APIs, and other data-management technologies.
Automate repetitive GIS processes using scripting, geoprocessing models, workflows, and automation tools.
Develop Python scripts and other appropriate automation solutions for data processing, analysis, quality control, and reporting.
Develop geoprocessing tools, custom workflows, analytical models, and reusable GIS components.
Support GIS application development and integration with web, mobile, cloud, and enterprise platforms.
Develop interactive web maps, geospatial dashboards, story maps, and location-based applications.
Integrate GIS platforms with APIs, data services, IoT systems, sensors, and other digital technologies.
Support the implementation and administration of enterprise GIS environments.
Configure GIS services, feature services, map services, geocoding services, and related geospatial applications.
Monitor GIS system performance, availability, security, and data-service reliability.
Manage user access, permissions, roles, and appropriate controls for sensitive geospatial information.
Support cloud-based GIS environments, spatial data services, and scalable geospatial architectures where applicable.
Evaluate emerging geospatial technologies including cloud GIS, real-time mapping, remote sensing, digital twins, 3D GIS, and location intelligence.
Develop 3D spatial models, terrain models, visualization environments, and digital-twin applications where required.
Process and analyze satellite imagery, aerial imagery, LiDAR, remote-sensing data, and other geospatial datasets.
Apply remote-sensing and image-analysis techniques to support environmental, infrastructure, land-use, and operational requirements.
Develop spatial models to support forecasting, scenario analysis, risk assessment, site selection, and resource allocation.
Conduct network analysis, proximity analysis, suitability analysis, accessibility analysis, terrain analysis, and other advanced GIS techniques.
Develop location-allocation, routing, catchment, service-area, and transportation analyses where applicable.
Support site-selection and feasibility studies using geographic, demographic, infrastructure, environmental, and commercial criteria.
Prepare spatial analyses for planning applications, infrastructure projects, environmental assessments, and development initiatives.
Coordinate with surveyors, engineers, planners, environmental specialists, architects, data scientists, and technology teams.
Translate business and operational requirements into practical geospatial solutions.
Gather GIS requirements from internal stakeholders and develop appropriate technical specifications.
Provide expert GIS advice to project teams, management, clients, and decision-makers.
Develop GIS methodologies, technical documentation, user guides, process maps, and operating procedures.
Establish GIS project plans, milestones, resources, budgets, risks, and technical dependencies.
Manage external GIS consultants, survey providers, mapping companies, data suppliers, and technology vendors.
Define vendor requirements, technical deliverables, data specifications, quality standards, and acceptance criteria.

Ideal Candidate The successful candidate should have strong experience in GIS, geospatial analysis, spatial data management, cartography, location intelligence, geospatial technology, remote sensing, or GIS application development, preferably within urban planning, infrastructure, engineering, environmental services, utilities, transportation, real estate, government, logistics, or other geographically distributed environments.
