Senior GIS Specialist

Position Overview We are seeking a Senior GIS Specialist responsible for implementing projects involving spatial data, building standardized data processing workflows, supporting GIS system architecture design, and ensuring data quality for analytical projects, WebGIS, and system integration. This position requires a minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience, a systems-thinking mindset, and the ability to mentor team members. Preferred candidates will have experience in land management, urban planning, or transportation management, possess a long-term strategic vision, and seek opportunities for deep professional growth in GIS. Key Responsibilities Design and Optimization of Workflows: Workflow Design: Lead the design of data processing pipelines—including data collection, cleaning, standardization, analysis, and map editing. Data Standardization: Develop standardized SOPs for GIS data to ensure consistency and high accuracy. QA/QC: Ensure quality control for both input and output data. Performance Improvement: Collaborate with the Team Leader and GIS Developers to analyze and evaluate current workflows, proposing optimized solutions. Coordination and Training: Task Allocation: Support the GIS Team Leader in planning and assigning tasks to ensure project timelines are met. Mentorship: Directly guide, train, and review work for Junior GIS Specialists and interns. Documentation: Draft technical documentation and internal training materials. Technical Collaboration: Collaboration with GIS Developers: Define data processing requirements to support the development of tools, plugins, or automation scripts. Testing: Validate tools developed by GIS Developers to ensure spatial and business logic accuracy before deployment. Job Requirements Core Knowledge: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Surveying & Mapping, Environmental Resources, Geography, or related fields. Strong understanding of GIS concepts, coordinate systems, projections, and coordinate transformations. Solid theoretical foundation in spatial data structures and familiarity with data organization in GeoDatabase and RDBMS environments. Technical Skills: GIS Software: Advanced proficiency in QGIS, ArcGIS Desktop, and ArcGIS Pro; capable of solving complex spatial analyses (e.g., Network Analysis, Density/Hotspot Analysis, Local Allocation, Accessibility Analysis). Databases: Strong SQL skills, especially Spatial SQL with PostGIS; able to query, filter, and validate large datasets. Programming & Automation: Logical thinking to design and build models (e.g., ModelBuilder); experience using Python and PostGIS for task automation. Workflow Design: Proven experience in writing technical documentation and creating flowcharts/diagrams to communicate data processing logic to developers and team members. Soft Skills: Ability to lead and mentor technically. Strong problem-solving and systems-thinking capabilities. Proficiency in reading technical English documents.
